Monday
Read part of chapter 1 aloud: start of chapter to "You know you don't..." Students read the rest of chapter 1 silently or quietly to themselves

Introduce vocabulary for chapters 1-3. Begin word wall

Predict vocabulary words definitions

Grand conversation

How does this chapter leave you wondering about what is going to happen, write a prediction

Lesson: 5 year old and old women behavior

Tuesday
Read chapter 2 aloud: start of chapter to "Maybe your work..." Student's read the rest of chapter 2 in pairs

Vocabulary concentration game (described in Literature Unit: A Wrinkle in Time)

Define vocabulary words

Character descriptions- as a whole class

Meg's self concept is low, write a description of how you feel about yourself

Lesson: Social Studies- Imports and exports

Wednesday
Read chapter 2 aloud from: "Somebody's there" to the end of the chapter. Students get in small groups (3-5) and discuss their favorite parts

Begin character wall

Write own sentences using vocabulary

Character development in small groups

Meg feels school is useless, how do you  feel about what you have learned at school

Lesson: History/ Math- historical figure Blaise Pascal

Thursday
Read chapter 3 aloud: start of the chapter to "But now at least..." Students read the rest of chapter 3 chorally in groups of 3-4

Start Illustrated Dictionary (described in Literature Unit: A Wrinkle in Time"

Place vocabulary words in context

Connecting with a character- in pairs

Write about which character you connect with so far in the story and why

Lesson: Math- Fractions to decimals

Friday
Read chapter 3 aloud from: "Okay, hold it..." to the end of the chapter. Student discuss their thoughts on this part in pairs

Add students words to the word wall and discuss (words they found difficult, want to know more about)

Discuss vocabulary words as found in context

Grand conversation

Double entry journals- quote and reflection

Lesson: Math- Einstein, the parts of E= MC2
