A Wrinkle in Time Overview

This is an overview of a Unit I did on the book "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle. The rest of the unit will follow in other blog posts.

    A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
   Literature Unit: A Wrinkle in Time by John and Patty Carratello

Grade
   Grade 5 end of the year or Grade 6 beginning of the year

Lessons
   Pre-reading: Introduction of the book, author, and theme. Introduction of Tessering and the concept of Tessering
   Chapter 1: Comparison of five year olds to the behavior of Charles Wallace. Comparison of old women to the behavior of Mrs. Who. Why these behaviors would be extraordinary
   Chapter 5: Dimensions, Indrocution of the five dimensions and explanation as to what they are. Drawing dimensional shapes.
   Chapter 5: Indroduction to dark verses the light. Research information on the fighters of the dark and how they are extraordinary.
  Chapters 6-7: Camazotz verses the Earth. Comparing the planet of Camazotz with the planet Earth. How they are alike and how they are different. What makes each one unique.
   Chapters 6-7: The Gettysburg Address. Read the Gettysburg Addresss and discuss the ideas that our forefathers had. Compare theses with the society of Camazotz
   Chapter 8: The properties of matter. Introducaiton to the properties of matter, experimentation with the properties to gain understanding
   Chapters 10-12: Looking at the book from other characters perspectives
   Chapters 10-12: Senses. Students will visit different learning centers to develop each of their five sense.
   Post-reading:  Review the book. Developing conclusions as to whether A Wrinkle in Time is a fantasy or Science Finction. Description of Fantasy and Science Fiction novels
